  • Duration of SARS-CoV-2 shedding: A systematic review. [Journal Article]
J Glob Health. 2024 Mar 29; 14:05005.Oordt-Speets AM, Spinardi JR, … Kyaw MH
  • CONCLUSIONS: Viral shedding peaked within 5 days since symptom onset or diagnosis and the culture positivity rate rapidly declined hereafter. This systematic review provides an overview of current evidence on the daily SARS-CoV-2 culture positivity rates during the post-vaccination period. These findings could be used to estimate the effectiveness of public health control measures, including treatment and preventive strategies, to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • Complete recovery after fulminant myocarditis in a patient with COVID-19. [Case Reports]
    Pak J Med Sci. 2024 Mar-Apr; 40(4):785-789.Kitsou V, Lunde T, … Saeed S
  • The clinical spectrum of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) varies from asymptomatic infection to severe disease with multiorgan dysfunction. Cardiovascular involvement is common and in rare cases can lead to serious complications, such as fulminant myocarditis. The clinical course of COVID-19 myocarditis varies from complete recovery to death in rare cases. The pathophysiology of COVID-19-relat…
  • Estimating Asymptomatic and Symptomatic Transmission of the COVID-19 First Few Cases in Selenge Province, Mongolia. [Journal Article]
    Influenza Other Respir Viruses. 2024 Apr; 18(4):e13277.Dambadarjaa D, Mend T, … Enebish O
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our study highlights the heterogeneity of COVID-19 transmission across different symptom statuses and underscores the importance of early identification and isolation of symptomatic cases in disease control. Our approach, which combines detailed contact tracing data with advanced statistical methods, can be applied to other infectious diseases, facilitating a more nuanced understanding of disease transmission dynamics.
  • Current landscape of long COVID clinical trials. [Review]
    Int Immunopharmacol. 2024 Mar 26; 132:111930.Bhattacharya M, Chatterjee S, … Chakraborty C
  • Long COVID was reported as a multi-systemic condition after the infection of SARS-CoV-2, and more than 65 million people are suffering from this disease. It has been noted that around 10% of severe SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals are suffering from the enduring effects of long COVID. The symptoms of long COVID have also been noted in several mild or asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals. W…
  • Scabies in infants and children - a narrative review. [Review]
    Eur J Pediatr. 2024 Mar 27 [Online ahead of print]Chiriac AE, Diaconeasa A, … Wollina U
  • Scabies is a human ectoparasitosis caused by Sarcoptes scabei var. hominis. World-wide around 300 million patients are affected. Infants and children have the highest incidence rates. Poverty and overcrowding are social factors contributing to a higher risk of transmission and treatment failure. The leading symptom of the infestation is itch. Complications are bacterial infections that are respon…
  • SARS-CoV-2 Seroprevalence and Vaccine Uptake among Pregnant Women at First Antenatal Care Visits in Malawi. [Journal Article]
Am J Trop Med Hyg. 2024 Mar 26 [Online ahead of print]Tenthani L, Seffren V, … Gutman JR
  • Many SARS-CoV-2 infections are asymptomatic, thus reported cases underestimate actual cases. To improve estimates, we conducted surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence among pregnant women attending their first antenatal care visit (ANC1) from June 2021 through May 2022. We administered a questionnaire to collect demographic, risk factors, and COVID-19 vaccine status information and tested dri…
  • [A clinical case of the new-onset bipolar affective disorder in the postcovid period]. [Journal Article]
Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova. 2024; 124(3):125-129.Dmitriev MN, Baeva DO, Slavgorodskaya MS
  • A large number of people who have had COVID-19 have developed mental symptoms and mood disorders. Anxiety and depression prevail among affective pathology. Evidence is accumulating that the Sars-CoV-2 virus can induce mania or hypomania in people with no personal psychopathological history. Some clinical, anamnestic and paraclinical patterns of new-onset mania and hypomania have been found. In ca…
  • Upstaging of Tuberculosis in the Post-COVID-19 Era: A Case Series. [Case Reports]
    Cureus. 2024 Feb; 16(2):e54687.Malik N, Sidhar M, … Gupta I
  • The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the global health system as well as the social and economic impact on tuberculosis (TB) treatment and diagnostic services. A high volume of patients diagnosed and treated for TB were impacted by the pandemic restrictions, particularly reduced access to TB services provided by the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in India; this in turn in…
  • Long COVID's Impact on Patients, Workers, & Society: A review. [Review]
    Medicine (Baltimore). 2024 Mar 22; 103(12):e37502.Kavanagh KT, Cormier LE, … Webley W
  • The incidence of long COVID in adult survivors of an acute SARS-CoV-2 infection is approximately 11%. Of those afflicted, 26% have difficulty with day-to-day activities. The majority of long COIVD cases occur after mild or asymptomatic acute infection. Children can spread SARS-CoV-2 infections and can also develop long-term neurological, endocrine (type I diabetes), and immunological sequelae. Im…
  • Genetic loci regulate Sarbecovirus pathogenesis: A comparison across mice and humans. [Journal Article]
    Virus Res. 2024 Mar 22; 344:199357.Schäfer A, Gralinski LE, … Baric RS
  • Coronavirus (CoV) cause considerable morbidity and mortality in humans and other mammals, as evidenced by the emergence of Severe Acute Respiratory CoV (SARS-CoV) in 2003, Middle East Respiratory CoV (MERS-CoV) in 2012, and SARS-CoV-2 in 2019. Although poorly characterized, natural genetic variation in human and other mammals modulate virus pathogenesis, as reflected by the spectrum of clinical o…

The aim of this review is to gather comprehensive data from the existing literature on the potential risks of fertility management during the pandemic period, and outline strategies to mitigate them, with a focus on the hormonal and surgical proce…
  • Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG in people with cystic fibrosis. [Journal Article]
    Heliyon. 2024 Mar 30; 10(6):e27567.Mahan K, Kiel S, … Billings J
  • CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first report on the seroprevalence and longevity of SARS-CoV-2 IgG to 1 year in adults with CF after the widespread availability of SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations. These data show that pwCF respond to the COVID vaccination and produce long-lasting antibodies similar to the general population.
  • Comparative epidemiology of outbreaks caused by SARS-CoV-2 Delta and Omicron variants in China. [Journal Article]
    Epidemiol Infect. 2024 Mar 19; 152:e43.Peng L, Huang X, … Tsang TK
  • From 2020 to December 2022, China implemented strict measures to contain the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. However, despite these efforts, sustained outbreaks of the Omicron variants occurred in 2022. We extracted COVID-19 case numbers from May 2021 to October 2022 to identify outbreaks of the Delta and Omicron variants in all provinces of mainland China. We found tha…
